Intro Section

Heading: A Hand Up, Not a Handout

Habitat for Humanity Huron County partners with families to help them

achieve the dream of owning their own home. Our partner families don't

just receive a home — they help build it, contribute sweat equity, and

pay an affordable, interest-free mortgage.

Homeownership through Habitat gives families the foundation for a

better life — a stable home, lower housing costs, and the chance to

build long-term equity and independence.

How It Works

Heading: How Habitat Homeownership Works

Partner with us:

Families apply and are selected based on their need, willingness to

partner, and ability to pay an affordable mortgage.

Build together:

Partner families contribute sweat equity hours — helping build their

own home or another Habitat home. It's a team effort.

Move in:

Families purchase their home with a Habitat mortgage — no down payment,

0% interest, and payments set at 30% of household income.

Build the future:

As families pay their mortgage, those dollars go back into the Build Fund,

helping us build the next home. It's a cycle of community investment.

Who Qualifies

Heading: Who Qualifies?

DESIGN NOTE: FAQ-style accordion or expandable sections work well here.
Keeps the page clean and lets people find what's relevant to them.

Habitat Huron County builds within the county boundaries — Exeter,

Wingham, Seaforth, Goderich, Clinton, Brussels, and Hensall. Families

must have lived in or worked in Huron County a minimum of two years

and be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant.

Families are selected by an independent committee based on three criteria:

NEED

Do you currently spend more than 30% of your income on rent? Is your

housing adequate for your needs — safe, secure, and well maintained?

ABILITY TO REPAY A MORTGAGE

Do you have a reliable income where you can pay house insurance,

property taxes, and something towards the mortgage principal?

WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER WITH HABITAT

Are you able to contribute 500 Partnership Hours?

What homeownership looks like with Habitat:

calculated at 30% of income

NOTE: According to surveys of Habitat homeowners, families who
partner with Habitat are more physically active, more involved in
their community, and their kids are more likely to pursue
post-secondary education. Consider using this as a callout/stat
on the page.
